Dinah Volk is a Professor in the Early Childhood Program, College of Education and Human Services, Cleveland State University. Between 1991 and 2006 she was program coordinator. Dr. Volk teaches courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels including the Introduction to Early Childhood Education, Teaching Methods in Early Childhood Education, and the Seminar in Early Childhood Education. Her research interests focus on the language and literacy of young bilingual children in school, home, and community settings; family involvement in young children's learning with a special interest in sibling teaching; and culturally responsive teaching in early childhood classrooms. Her work has been published in the Early Childhood Research Quarterly, the Journal of Early Childhood Literacy, Young Children, Research in the Teaching of English, Anthropology and Education Quarterly, and the Journal of Language, Identity, and Education. She has been a classroom teacher at preschool and primary levels in the U.S. and Latin America.
