About

Dr. Ganning is the Associate Dean, Associate Professor, and Director of the Master of Urban Planning and Development program at Levin Colllege. She comes to Levin College from the University of Utah, where she served as Assistant Professor of City & Metropolitan Planning and Executive Director of the Metropolitan Research Center. She holds a PhD in Regional Planning from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. Prior to graduate studies, her interests were in regional and rural development. Experience in various U.S. cities led her to expand her focus to include urban places and downtowns, where most of her work now focuses. Dr. Ganning's research focuses on industry- and place-based mechanisms for economic development, and her work often intersects with community development, transportation, and other areas.
