N2 - Injuries of the anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) remain a frequent occurrence in many sports activities. Recent research has identified risk factors, and prevention strategies are being developed based on these findings. There is, however, still a limited understanding of the actual injury mechanisms. In this presentation we will review the current knowledge on ACL injury mechanisms, and identify needs and opportunities for further research.
