    Abstract

My hope is to see the development of the sociology of emotions and health as an opportunity to connect biology to political economy, with emotions as the first bridge. We have as a canvas the experienced body within the context of the negotiated, encultured, conflictual, unequal, and dynamic social world. In this, there is the potential for sociologists of emotions to build upon our central, rather than decentered, position in sociology, as well as more broadly in all the fields of health and illness.
