Abstract
The article focuses on the eminent domain laws in the U.S. as experimented by the states with different approaches for reforms. Supreme Court Justice David Souter voted with the majority in 2005 in Kelo versus City of New London, which affirmed the right of the government to acquire private property by eminent domain for economic development purposes. The Kelo majority made it clear that states were free to impose greater limits on the power of eminent domain than those required by the federal Constitution.
