Moving Toward Sustainable Residential Integration with Racial Justice and Social Equity.pdf

This essay states that sustainable integration is achievable only in communities where racial justice and social equity are more highly valued than white supremacy and privilege.  Without racial justice and social equity being dominant values in a community, chances of long-term sustainability as a racially integrated residential place are slim to none.  It is the persistent dominance of white segregation and discrimination as core values in the distribution of material goods and equal access to quality and opportunities of life--the values of historic slavery and white supremacy--that block the development of sustainable residential communities in America.  Sustainability requires changing core values to place justice, equity and inclusion above the values that reinforce white privilege and exclusion.
