Wastewater characteristics are necessary for design, operation, collection, treatment, disposal, and reuse. Characteristics of wastewater vary from location to location depending upon many parameters. All these parameter were investigated and their effect on wastewater characteristics was discussed. The physical, chemical, and biological characteristics of wastewater were determined. Preliminary, primary, secondary, and tertiary treatment methods were delineated. Also, the design control parameters of different treatment processes were detailed.
